To start my design proposal I used the app Paper by 53 on my iPad. An easy way to sketch your ideas.

At times approaching a blank space to design is easier than a room full of furniture. On that last scenario, there is already a taste imply in each and every item that decorates that room. When my client approached me to re-decorate her master bedroom, the ambiance of this space was dark and a bit gloomy. The walls needed a change and something to bring a brighter illumination inside.
As an added challenge to this room, my client and her husband didn't want to change the bedroom furniture but on the bright side, they personally appreciate straight lines and light blue and aqua colors. She insisted on bringing a spa-like look and feel in their room and to eventually translate this to her master bathroom.
After having a better understanding of my client's taste, I embark on a quest to find their in-home spa retreat. I made for them two design proposals with a slight difference in the color palette used but on both I kept an item or two that brought in the spa/zen feeling.

On my first design proposal I echoed the wood they already had with some wall art but to add a bit of glam, I introduced some golden accents. The koi fishes and the crystal ceiling lamp shade evoked the idea of water, so present in zen atmospheres.

Aqua and silver were the main characters of my second proposal. Here the velvet, soft grays and the smoked capiz shells on the lamp, brought a tranquil and serene feeling but with an elegant approach.
To these proposals I also added some images I found on Pinterest to give my client a better idea of other accessories we could add to the room. These images helped her translate her thoughts on things she knew she wanted, but didn't know how to described. The inspiration photos are a useful tool when presenting an idea to others because it gives them a better look at what you are suggesting to do.
